Samuel Ogazi Goes Professional With Adidas

When this youngster came 7th at the 2024 Paris Olympics 400m finals, I watched as those uninformed folks wrote all sorts from "The Nigerian Came 7th" to "We Couldn't Get a Medal Again"......

 

Those comments exposed just how people carelessly write without adequate knowledge about issues. This is one reason you won't find me having an opinion outside subjects I'm well knowledgeable about.....

 

As at that time, he just finished his entry level and was about going into his sophomore year at Alabama. He was a college student who was trained to peak two months before the Olympics, meaning diminishing return was likely to set in when the professionals were attaining their peak(you have to understand how things work to grasp this paragraph)

 

The NCAA 400m Champion at that, Christopher Morales of Canada didn't even qualify for the Olympics Finale, hence, Ogazi having to run sub 45s back to back to make the finals showed just how much of an incredible talent we were watching on a global stage. A youngster who only needed time for his talent to be properly groomed and have him blossom on the World Stage was unjustly criticized despite making the Olympics Finale at 18years.

 

Fast forward to two years from 2024, Ogazi does not only hold the NCAA record of the quartetmile, he is currently the fastest man to run 400m in the World this year , and the 4th fastest man in the universe to run on the 400m tracks.
