1. Attacking and Goalscoring Prowess
The Flamingos are Africa’s most exciting and attacking side heading into the tournament, having scored 17 goals at the WAFU-B U-17 tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
During the pre-World Cup tune-up competition, the young ladies brushed aside Niger Republic 5-0, Ghana 4-2, Togo 4-0, Burkina Faso 2-0 and Côte d’Ivoire 2-0 to lift the trophy.
The most interesting part of Busari’s side is their ability to get goals from different players. This team doesn’t rely on one striker or winger for goals, just as we saw at the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, where nine players found the back of the net.
Chidi Harmony, Kemi Adegbuyi, Oluebube Umejiaku, Mary Dunstan, Awawu Bashiru, Kaosarat Akanji, Ohunene Sunday, Pattra Oparanmegwa, and Ayomide Rotimi all added their names to the scoreboard.
When Kemi wasn’t scoring, she was doing the dirty work — winning penalties, drawing fouls and providing chances for Chidi Harmony. The same applied to captain Chidi Harmony, Oluebube and the rest of the attacking players.
Going into the clash with Poland, Nigerians expect an attacking game in which the young ladies will explore their pace, show their attacking qualities, and score goals.
2. Experience and Exposure
Coach Akeem Busari will count on his players’ experience and exposure to make it past the Polish side. Five players in the squad were part of the Nigerian team at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland in September, and four of them were actively involved.
Precious Oscar, Queen Joseph, Tosin Rafiu and Favour Nkwocha were integral squad members, while goalkeeper Jane Ijirigho was second choice to Christianah Uzoma.
Though Chidi Harmony didn’t make the Falconets’ team to Poland, the young striker and captain featured in the 2024 edition of the U-17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic. She has the exposure and experience required to lead the team to victory against their European opponents.
While Kemi Adegbuyi hasn’t featured in a global tournament, her experience at the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s competition, where she was named player of the tournament, will come in handy against Poland.
3. A Squad With Potentials to Succeed In Morocco
Beyond the goals, Busari’s side is a team with real youngstars and players with potentials to deliver. Captain Chidi Harmony will spearhead the line having already featured at the 2024 U-17 World Cup.
Kemi Adegbuyi, Queen Joseph, and Tosin Rafiu also have all it requires to lead Nigeria’s attacking efforts following their exploits in recent competitions.
The front line is a mix of playmakers, runners, and finishers, and any of them can hurt the Polish defence on the day.
Final Verdict
Considering the team's free-scoring attack, big-tournament experience, and hunger, Positive NG Vibes tips the Flamingos to pick maximum points against Poland and make a statement in Rabat.
